SEO with Flowermanager and Wedding or Events Sites

There has been a lot of discussion recently in regards to the best practices of using Wedding or Event sites in conjunction with FlowerManager.

First off if you use the FlowerManager Wedding / Event site it is either hosted under your site at domain.com/events or under a separate domain of your choosing. There are pros and cons to consider having it set either way. We will specifically be focusing on SEO relevance and the blog portion in this post.

FlowerManager Updates – Phone Numbers, Facebook, After Hours Login and Charity Organizations

Phone Numbers

We’ve added a few extra phone number fields for the Cart, Event/Wedding Site and Mobile Site. If you enter a number for Mobile or Cart then it will use that number instead of your local or toll free numbers by default. If an affiliate or campaign is passed and they have a phone number they will still override these numbers in the same way it overrides your local / toll free number. However if a number is setup for the Wedding Site then that is the number that will appear there regardless of any affiliate or campaigns the user might have come from. You can set the Cart / Mobile phone numbers in Wide Store Settings and Event/Wedding site phone under Weddings – Settings.

Unique Wedding / Event Site Domain Name Setup

Here are directions  to set up a unique domain name for your wedding / event site. You do not need to do this unless you want to use a unique domain name. There is no charge for this unless you are buying a new domain name.

Please contact Kelli Barclay with your domain name or names. If there are multiple names please let us know which one is primary. We’ll need access to your domain names to change DNS. So if we already control the domain then we can handle it, otherwise you’ll need to either give us permission (login info) or make the change to point them at our DNS servers. In either case Kelli can help you coordinate this.

Ad Tracking for Weddings / Events

Ad Tracking or Ad Campaigns

This is a function that allows you to track the number of links to a section of your site from a third party site. So if you are running an online advertisement with your local newspaper for instance, and would like to track the effectiveness you can do so by creating and providing them a trackable link.

Wedding / Event Galleries

I wanted to take a moment to clarify how to use the galleries in the new site. If you have new larger images (1500 pixels or wider) you can setup the new galleries and when ready just check a box to use the new use galleries. However, if you don’t have large photos we have an alternative view that allows you to continue using your old galleries as long as you’d like.

FlowerManager Wedding/Event Site Announcement & Training Videos

The Event/Wedding site is live for everyone who currently has weddings enabled on their site. You’ll find the Wedding section of the admin has been updated and your wedding links now launch a new tab with the new site. I’ve included some videos below to show you how everything works. We’re using the content from your current wedding site so there is nothing you have to do. Even though you can manage it, take a few days to get used to it and make a solid plan before you change the site too much… it’s pretty nice as is. ;^)
